Quartz Hill User Group has decided to dispose of physical assets it holds following closure of its highly successful DX / Contest site, disbanded when Meridian Energy’s West Wind project was developed several years ago.
These assets could be of major interest to ZL-based Radio Clubs, Contest Groups, or DXers with space to develop a significant antenna farm. They include three large, climbable Cubra Stratton masts, significant quantities of coax (and heliax), and the dismantled “boomless” multi-element Yagis we used at QH. The 20ft steel shipping container housing this material is also available. Details of these are shown in the associated PDF file with an itemised list and colour photographs here.
The Group recognises that these items should go to “a good home” and so will consider all proposals put forward. It would be a pity to send the masts etc to the scrap metal merchant, but we want to clear these items from our storage site in the near future so we can move on to a new project. The materials are kept on a secure site near Wellington. Inspection can be arranged.
The Group would like to consider proposals at its next meeting (31 July 2012), so preliminary inquiries should be addressed to either QHUG convener:
